The Purpose of EXAMS

The purpose of exams

The main purpose of exams is for lecturers to check that you have understood the work. A more conventional answers would be: to measure knowledge of the content of, or the achievement of, the learning outcomes that are equivalent to those of a specific course (Intended Learning Outcomes). Hmm...what can I say Curriculum foundation helped me recall the definition or it could just be freash in my memory because I just finished writing the exam today.

Or you may agree with me when I say-- the purpose of Exams is to freak all students out and create massive chaos across the planet, especially since exams affect all divisions of Creation. Lets look at this way, the furry little animals know when its exam time. Just watch them scurry around as people pull in and out of the parking lot. They are much more cautious when they run across the street. Roomies always know when its exam time - even when they aren't on the same schedule -- they tend to put coffee on (even if you don't like it :)

Preparing for exams involves a high release of energy (something I tend NOT to have during exams) and an unusual degree of focus (hence the blog writing), which produces a very intense kind of learning (sure, I now know that Math is my next exam). That focus and intensity are not easy to reproduce under any other conditions. Ofcourse! becuase it isn't happening NOW!

Some advantages of examinations:

There are some positive benefits in exams! Yes, I said it.

You cannot be expected to give very long or detailed answers in exams: you need to use less information than in a comparable piece of coursework. As a result, less in-depth research and reading may be needed than if you were set additional coursework. You don’t have to write out references or bibliographies in full at the end. I told ya there were some benefits. I don't know about you but not writing a bibliography saves me tons of time.

Examiners are generally more sympathetic about scrawled handwriting (my arm and hand went limp) , minor grammatical errors (definately didn't proof-read) , spellings and forgotten details (because it definately happened).

Victori-us weekend

Varsity Women's Soccer
We walked on the field with a no nonesense entrance -- the girls wanted this--they were hungry.
We expected to win when we walked on the field. We knew it. The other team knew it. That's a great thing. It's something that you earn. You can't teach it, you feel it. And we never gave up.
The weekend was a burrrrr-ly one but we walked out there with confidence. Craving that win and we did --with a 5-0 win against Lambton ....but we were still hungy so we went on to win St. Clair 4-0. Can you say amazing???? I can.
It was definately a fun weekend despite the cold. With pranks up everyone's sleeve and hunger to solve the mystery -- it was hilarious. "we'll be watching" was the theme this week...scarry ....nah, funny!!
Here's the details:
Everyone was attacked yet again this week. It was, for a second time tailored to each individual. A love note from an ex-husband to poetry to ransom notes to cherrios jingle competition to a karate belt to 'tighty whities'. LOL.
Anyways, we went out to play the game and when we returned there was a poster/flyer in our rooms --- I will post this later

An Awakening

Life changing events happen to all of us...important events that change the course of life from that day forward. The ones we choose are usually exciting and filled with anticipation: a wedding, a new career, a family started, a move made. All change the course of events in our lives from that day on and we step willingly into them.

It’s the other events that haunt us ... the life changing events that we are plunged into without choice or warning... individual crisis that most everyone eventually gets a turn at. The call that a loved one is dying, an accident that changes life forever, a diagnosis, a breakup, a job loss all change the course of life from that moment on and we find individuals forging on in places they have not stepped willingly.

As we come to see life as a journey, not just from birth to the grave, but as an experience, its secrets, its messages begins to unfold.

Through this journey I have learned one of life's greatest lesson.

The only people we really wound are those we love the best.
We flatter those we scarcely know, we please the fleeting guest, but we dial many thoughless blows to those who love us best.

Here is to you.....

Thanks For Being You

Thanks for giving me joys and smiles
Thanks for sharing my trouble's pile
Thanks for wipeing the tears of my eye
Thanks for showing me the glad view of sky
Thanks for lending me your shoulders to lean
Thanks for giving my words a proper mean
Thanks for telling me the value of life
Thanks for showing me the rules to survive
Thanks for lending me the sympathetic ears
Thanks for showing how much you care
From all this what I mean in the end
Is thanks for being my special friend.
Thanks for being my brother and sister.

If you are facing a hard and unwelcome change in your life that has been thrust upon you, be determined in inching forward beyond the pain. Don’t let the trouble determine who you become. Don’t let the tragedy become your definition. Like mine did.

No one is an island. We need the inspiration and encouragement of one another as we dust ourselves off from the deep pits of life and step out to move forward.

Soccer Girls Got PRANKED!!

The girls soccer team was pranked this week and it was funny.

We all recieved a little message in our mailboxes on how to prepare for thursday practice.

Everyone was hit uniquely it ranged from preparing jello jigglers to vocal cord rehersal (to sing the national anthem) to thre-legged races. Others recieved random phone calls, love letters, and trash (don't ask me).

To say the least it was funny although stressful up until practice.

We have suspicions as to who the genius is behind this little prank but nothing official yet.

I will keep you posted.
